In the Sustainable Livelihood and Basic Service Strengthening Program for Poor and Remote Communities, we conduct Network Development and Social Cooperation activities. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships among community members and promote collaboration in addressing challenges. Through a participatory approach, we facilitate the formation of livelihood groups, cooperatives, and associations to improve access to resources and services, as well as to expand market networks and economic opportunities. By enhancing these networks and social cooperation, we hope that communities can support each other and collectively achieve economic self-reliance and enhance their well-being.
Poor and remote communities in Indonesia often face social issues such as isolation, marginalization, discrimination, and conflict, which can affect their quality of life and well-being. For example, a study by the World Bank found that poor and remote communities in Indonesia have lower levels of social capital, trust, and participation compared to urban and non-poor communities. Another study by the Asia Foundation found that poor and remote communities in Indonesia are more vulnerable to armed conflict, especially in areas with ethnic, religious, or political tensions.
In our program, we focus on Network Development and Social Cooperation to improve the conditions of poor and remote communities in Indonesia. We facilitate the formation of livelihood groups, cooperatives, and associations to strengthen social relationships among community members. Through a participatory approach, we support them in accessing resources, services, and economic opportunities, as well as expanding market networks. Thus, we strive to build solidarity, support economic self-reliance, and enhance the well-being of poor and remote communities.
