About Women's Empowerment Collective
The Women’s Empowerment Collective is an initiative managed by the Indonesian Environmental Resilience Foundation, an organization working in the field of environment and forestry. This program aims to enhance the capacity and institutions of women and their communities to become more self-reliant and empowered in managing the environment and natural resources. Through various activities such as training, mentoring, and institutional development, the Women’s Empowerment Collective strives to empower women in decision-making related to the environment and forestry, as well as to increase their role in sustainable development.
Problem
Although the Women’s Empowerment Collective has noble goals, it faces several challenges. One of them is gender inequality in access to resources and opportunities, which remains a barrier for women to actively participate in environmental and forestry management. Additionally, women often face discrimination and stereotypes that limit their roles and contributions to sustainable development. Other threats include external pressures, such as deforestation and climate change, which can worsen the socio-economic conditions of women in rural areas.
What We Do?
To address these challenges, the Indonesian Environmental Resilience Foundation can take several steps. First, improving women’s access to education and training to develop the skills and knowledge needed for environmental and forestry management. Second, advocating for policy changes that support gender equality and women’s empowerment in sustainable development. Third, strengthening collaboration with governments, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to support women’s empowerment programs. With these measures, it is hoped that the Women’s Empowerment Collective by the Indonesian Environmental Resilience Foundation can make a significant contribution to achieving inclusive and gender-just sustainable development.
