Technical Guidance on “Community-Based Climate Change Mitigation Efforts” by the Bondowoso District Environmental Agency

On Tuesday, June 6, 2024, the Bondowoso District Environmental Agency held a Technical Guidance event themed “Community-Based Climate Change Mitigation Efforts” at the Abadi Malioboro Hotel. This event aimed to raise awareness and increase community participation in climate change mitigation efforts through community-based programs.

Relung Indonesia was invited as one of the speakers at the event, represented by Sunaring Kurniandaru, S.Si. Sunaring Kurniandaru, S.Si., delivered an inspiring presentation on “From Awareness to Action: Youth Facing Climate Change.” His presentation emphasized the crucial role of youth in addressing the challenges of climate change and outlined concrete steps that can be taken to create meaningful change.

In addition to Sunaring Kurniandaru, S.Si., the event also featured Drs. Joko Sudibyo, M.T., who presented on “Climate Village Program (Proklim) as a Community-Based Climate Change Mitigation Effort.” In his presentation, Drs. Joko Sudibyo, M.T., explained various initiatives and programs that can be implemented at the community level to reduce the impact of climate change and enhance environmental resilience.

The event was attended by representatives from the Bondowoso District Environmental Agency, as well as participants from the general public, youth, and village government representatives from six villages and four sub-districts in Bondowoso District. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the interactive discussions and numerous questions posed during the Q&A session.

This technical guidance provided the community with in-depth knowledge and insights on climate change mitigation efforts. Through this event, it is hoped that the community will become more actively involved in various sustainable environmental programs, leading to a healthier and more climate-resilient environment.

The Bondowoso District Environmental Agency hopes that this event will serve as a starting point to build collective awareness and encourage real action in addressing climate change challenges at the local level. With collaboration between the government, communities, and organizations like Relung Indonesia, it is hoped that climate change mitigation efforts can be more effective and sustainable.
