Baseline Study of the Sintang Landscape (Measuring Landscape Issues for Sustainable Development in Sintang District, West Kalimantan)

Participatory Sustainable Livelihood Assesment

Sintang Regency, as an integral part of Borneo with abundant biodiversity, has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting sustainable development agendas, particularly in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This support is driven by active participation from various elements of society and contributions from the private sector as development partners. Shifting policy focus towards sustainable development is the primary objective for the future, prioritizing innovation and partnerships with like-minded stakeholders. The new vision of Sintang Regency, aiming for “Realizing a smart, healthy, harmonious, prosperous, advanced, and sustainable community of Sintang Regency, supported by good and clean governance by 2026,” serves as the driving force for future initiatives.

Relung Indonesia, along with the Penabulu Foundation and with funding support from the Rainforest Alliance, has taken on the task of compiling the Sintang Landscape Baseline Study Document. This document aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the sustainable landscape conditions in Sintang Regency. Hopefully, this document will serve as a starting point for future initiatives in developing sustainable landscapes in the area. The baseline study is planned to formulate the Landscape Partnership Action Plan and the Multiparty Forum Framework in Sintang Regency to provide a collaborative framework that allows for synergy and integration of various stakeholders’ performances.

The study conducted to compile the Sintang Landscape Baseline Study has produced complex data and information regarding the region’s conditions, developmental issues, and community livelihoods. Phenomena, dynamics, and documented trends serve as guidelines for stakeholders in realizing a sustainable Sintang Landscape. The agendas emerging from this study serve as crucial references in implementing Integrated Landscape Management in Sintang to enhance performance and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set at the central and local levels.
