Livelihood Improvement Interventions encompass a series of actions aimed at enhancing the livelihood conditions of individuals or communities. This includes various activities such as skills training, provision of business capital, access to markets, promotion of sustainable agriculture, and psychosocial support. Such interventions aim to increase income, well-being, and resilience of communities against various risks and challenges. Through sustainable and participatory approaches, livelihood improvement interventions can help build capacity and empower individuals and communities to achieve economic self-reliance and enhance their quality of life.
Indonesia is home to a large population of impoverished and marginalized communities, facing various challenges such as low income, food insecurity, environmental degradation, climate change, and limited access to basic services. Recent data indicates that approximately 2.47% of the population live below the international poverty line ($2.15 per day in PPP 2017), while 9.54% live below the national poverty line. Additionally, about 2.98% of the population also experience multidimensional poverty, including deprivation in education, access to infrastructure, and income below $1.90 per day in PPP 2011. Livelihood improvement interventions can have positive impacts on impoverished and marginalized communities, such as increasing income, well-being, food security, health, and quality of life, as well as enhancing knowledge, skills, capacity, and self-confidence. Moreover, these interventions can also benefit the environment by reducing pressure on natural resources, promoting sustainable management, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In order to improve the livelihood conditions of impoverished and marginalized communities, we undertake various Livelihood Improvement Interventions. These include activities such as skills training, provision of business capital, access to markets, promotion of sustainable agriculture, and psychosocial support. The primary goal is to enhance income, well-being, and resilience of communities against the various risks and challenges they face. Through sustainable and participatory approaches, we strive to build capacity and empower individuals and communities to achieve economic self-reliance and enhance their quality of life. Thus, we aim to make a significant positive impact on impoverished and marginalized communities while also benefiting the environment through sustainable management and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
